O'Brien's Irish Pub Sunday March 14, 2010

Recap: The Buskers @ O'Brien's Irish Pub Last Sunday Posted on March 15th, 2010 by Steve H

"A big Busker buss on the cheek of all our fans, who showed up in good numbers Sunday afternoon at O'Brien's Irish Pub on North Dale Mabry. It was three hours plus of singing (the Irish Buskers) and dancing (patrons and fans) and general rousing of rabble. We saw lots of old friends (many unexpected) and met some new ones. We especially enjoyed the spontaneous authentic Irish dancing by Danielle (O'Brien, as it happens), young and pretty and dressed in green.

O'Brien's did a bang-up business for a Sunday. Everyone seemed to be having a grand old time. It was a great way to start the slippery slide into St. Patrick's Day.

I must say, we were flummoxed by the comments (more than once) that people were surprised/thrilled to actually hear Irish music. What! Why would it be a surprise - pleasant or otherwise - to hear Irish music in an Irish pub? Let's do our best to make it less rare. Many thanks to all who showed their smiling faces on Sunday and came out to sing along, clap their hands, smile a bit, have a bite to eat, and a bit to drink. The performances are sooo much better with an appreciative crowd.

The performers, too, are appreciative."
